Sports lovers who lapped up the high definition broadcast of international cricket can now look forward to 24/7 HD services from ESPN Star Sports.
ESPN Star Sports launched two of its channels — ESPN and Star Cricket in HD. “Fans want to be up close to the action and there's no better way to experience the splendour than High Definition given the broader aspect ratio, higher resolution and enhanced audio that allows sport events to be broadcast in their full glory,” said Mr Manu Sawhney, Managing Director, ESPN Star Sports.
To watch the matches in HD mode, one needs an HD-compliant TV, an HD set top box (which is different from the normal one) besides wires specially made for the purpose.
ESPN has a line-up of premier international sporting events in cricket, soccer, golf and motor sports that it will air on the HD channels.
India's cricket tour of England starting July 21 will premier live on Star Cricket HD, followed by other events such as Champions League T20 and India's tour of Australia. ESPN HD will showcase F1 action from the Hungarian Grand Prix, GP2 Series and other events.
