Star-rated hotels in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore have increased their room and restaurant tariffs by up to 60 per cent to cash in on the festive mood of the people.
According to Assocham study, most of the major hotels’ representatives said they have launched attractive offers like packages for couples, which club food and liquor with accommodation.
“Star-rated hotels in metros have increased their room tariffs by an average of up to 60 per cent and are offering gourmet cuisines, elaborate New Year’s Eve buffets along with a variety of dining and entertainment options,” Assocham Secretary General, Mr D.S. Rawat, said.
The chamber surveyed about 100 star-rated hotels in different cities to gauge the mood amid the Christmas and New Year season.
About 40 per cent of the respondents said they are all geared up to host New Year parties and anticipate a rise in footfalls.
“These hotels have increased their tariffs and are charging between Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 per couple for gourmet food accompanied by unlimited premium liquor packages,” the study said.
Furthermore, it said majority of the respondents have received decent bookings for their Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties. In spite of the slowdown in the economy, they expect a 20-40 per cent surge in the number of bookings this year in comparison to last year.
