Stone India Ltd, GP Goenka group company, is developing upgraded products to stay technologically competitive in the railway components business.
According to the management, as the Indian Railways is gradually upgrading the production of electric locomotives (from conventional to 3-phase), the company was designing and developing computer operated brake system for freight and passenger locomotives.
Research Design and Standards Organisation of Indian Railways has also approved the design of the proposed brake system. Currently, the company is engaged in developing the prototypes for final evaluation by the authorities by the end of this fiscal.
The company is also obtained developmental order for three electro-pneumatic brake systems DEMU for coaches. It is also in the process of development of bogie-mounted brake system for formal approval by the end of 2015-16.
Stone India is to supply 13 automatic engine start-stop systems for diesel shunting locomotives.
The company, in consortium with NRT & Co of South Korea, is also executing first order valuing Rs 78.83 crore for platform-screen door gate from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd.
