Pharma major, Sun Pharma Limited today launched its Volini Spray with 360 degree technology in the presence of its brand ambassador and tennis star Sania Mirza and hinted at consolidation of its consumer healthcare business across five major brands.
The company had recently announced Sania Mirza and Sunil Chhetri, captain of India football team as the brand ambassadors for Volini, described as a tropical pain killer and available in gels, balm and pain spray form.
Subodh Marwah, Vice-President and Head, Global Consumer Healthcare, Sun Pharma, said, “South India is an important market and Andhra Pradesh has always been a focus for Volini. As a market leader in the analgesics spray category, we are continuously working to bring innovative products for our consumers.”
“Our research indicated that when pain occurs in hard to reach areas, the spray can be inverted causing loss of medical formulation by up to 40 per cent resulting in less relief from pain. Through Volini spray with 360 degree technology, we are addressing this problem, by providing a more effective relief at every angle,” he said.
About her association with Volini, Sania Mirza, said, “I am glad to be associated with Volini and celebrate this launch in my hometown.”
The company expects to further consolidate the brand presence with the two ambassadors it inducted as it seeks to gain market share.
Volini brings nearly two decades of innovation to people and is first one to start Diclofenac in pain relief as a fitness lifestyle gel and in spray form. This segment has a market estimated to be about Rs 2,500 crore in India and is growing at about 12-15 per cent per annum over the last three to four years. “We have a segment share of over 13 per cent and expect to further consolidate the share,” he explained.
Under the Consumer healthcare business, Sun Pharma has five major brands of Revital, Volini, Pepfiz, Garlic Pearls and Olesan Oil and expects to expand their market presence, Marwah explained.
