Sun TV Network Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs 180.12 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 – an 8 per cent growth over Rs 167.44 crore registered in the comparable quarter in the previous year. The turnover for the period stands at Rs 451.26 crore – a growth of 6 per cent from Rs 424.78 crore a year-ago.
According to a release the company filed with the stock exchange, the channels have been able to maintain its advertising growth from a well-diversified mix of clients (national, regional and local) across multiple product categories.
For the first half of the current financial year, the turnover is up at Rs 905.25 crore from Rs 865.22 crore in the first half of 2010-2011. The net profit rose by 8.67 per cent to Rs 367.74 crore for the period under consideration from Rs 338.39 crore in the comparable year-ago period.
Accordingly, earnings per share for the half year ended September 30, 2011 stand at Rs 9.33 (face value of share is Rs 5) as against Rs 8.59 in September 30, 2010.
The Board of Directors of the company has declared an interim dividend of Rs 3.75 a share (75 per cent).
During the period, the company launched a kids channel in Malayalam taking its total number of channels to 21 across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
