Sun TV Network is set to launch four high definition (HD) channels in Tamil and Telugu languages today (December 11).
According to a press release, the company plans to launch Sun TV, KTV, Sun Music HD channels in Tamil and Gemini TV HD in Telugu.
These channels, the first of its kind in Tamil and Telugu, will first be offered on the DTH (direct to home) and digital cable platforms in India, and will progressively become available in global markets.
While Sun TV HD, KTV HD and Gemini TV HD are to be priced at Rs 40 a month, its Sun Music HD will be priced at Rs 25 a month. However, as a bouquet of four channels, it will cost Rs 100 per month.
In high definition, the density of picture elements will be five times that of standard definition, resulting in a sharper image. As of now, about a dozen HD channels are available in India across general entertainment, sports, news and movie genres.
