Sunil D’Souza is set to take over as the new Managing Director of Whirlpool of India Ltd with effect from June 22.
It will be a seamless switch from one MNC to another for D’Souza as he joins appliances manufacturer Whirlpool from PepsiCo where he was the Head of PepsiCo’s VIMAPS Business Unit in Malaysia.
He had occupied senior management positions in Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam and India in PepsiCo during his 15-year stint with the global food and beverages giant.
Making the announcement, Arvind Uppal, President - Asia-Pacific, Whirlpool Corporation, and CMD, Whirlpool of India Ltd, said that what made D’Souza "highly suited to lead Whirlpool India'' was his "rich and diverse experience'' in different business segments of the consumer driven industries along with his "proven track record in leading and growing large businesses''.
Uppal will continue as Executive Chairman of the board of directors, Whirlpool of India Ltd.
Shares of Wirlpool were trading at Rs 734.50, a fall of Rs 2.65, on the BSE.
