Suzlon has received the Notice to Proceed (NTP) from CLP India for a 100.8 MW wind power project at Tejuva in Rajasthan. It comprises 48 units of its S97- 2.1 MW wind turbines featuring Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) technology.
CLP is one of the largest foreign investors in the Indian power sector, and this project will boost CLP India’s wind power portfolio to close to 1,000 MW, Suzlon said in a statement.
Rajiv Mishra, MD, CLP India said, “India is the fifth largest country in terms of total installed capacity of wind power, with large reserves of untapped potential. We have always believed that accelerated development of the Indian power sector requires investments across all sources of energy. Wind portfolio has been a key area over the past 4-5 years, with a sustained growth of about 300 MW every year. We are committed to growing it over the next few years as well.”
With close to 1,000 equity MW, wind power now forms almost one-third of CLP’s entire portfolio in India.
