Suzuki Motorcycle is now looking to compete in the major leagues in the two-wheeler market.
The Japanese two-wheeler company has launched its first mass segment motorcycle in the country, the 113cc Hayate, taking on biggies such as Hero MotoCorp.
With aggressive prices starting at Rs 38,212 in Delhi, the bike will be available across the country from this month onwards.
Additionally, it has roped in Bollywood actor, Salman Khan, to promote the mother brand in all its above-the-line and below-the-line initiatives.
Mr Atul Gupta, Vice-President (Sales and Marketing), Suzuki Motorcycle India, said: “The 100-110 cc motorcycle segment is a promising market with tremendous growth potential. With Hayate’s entry, we intend to explore new opportunities and look at a larger market share in the two-wheeler segment.
The launch of Hayate is an opportunity to address emerging markets in small town clusters as well as semi-urban and rural peripheries.”
Hayate, which means 'Fresh Breeze' or 'Swift wind' in Japanese, is available in five colours and sports aluminium cast wheels, and front and rear drum brakes.
The Hayate is priced lower than market leader Hero's Splendor (Rs 41,950), but above its entry CD Dawn (Rs 36,300) model.
