Suzuki Motorcycle India on Tuesday launched a new motorcycle – Gixxer – priced at Rs 72,199 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Targeted at youth, the ‘street sport’ motorcycle is powered by 155cc, single cylinder, air cooled engine with a five-speed gearbox. Gixxer will compete with the likes of Bajaj Auto’s Pulsar, TVS Motor’s Apace and Yamaha Motor’s FZ.
“It is an overall mix of elegant styling, classy on-road presence and promising performance, and will attract young bikers to rev up and ride. We expect Gixxer to create a strong foothold for itself in the market,” Atul Gupta, Executive Vice President, SMIPL, told reporters here.
He said Suzuki is keen on providing youth-centric products for the India customers at competitive price adding that the company will launch a new ‘mass-segment’ in the next three years.
Gupta said the company that has a capacity of 5.4 lakh units per year is also looking at exporting its two-wheelers and is targeting 10 per cent of overall sales per year to come from exports from next year.
The company sold around five-lakh units last year and is expecting to grow by around 15 per cent next year, Gupta added.
