Tata Chemicals today said it has partnered with Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) for creating an endowment chair with a donation of Rs 3.5 crore to promote research in chemical engineering.
“Tata Chemicals signed a MoU with Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) for creating an endowment chair — ‘Tata Chemicals Darbari Seth Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering,” the company said in a statement.
Tata Chemicals will donate Rs 3.5 crore as endowment fund to help set up the Chair Professor’s position, it added.
“Our partnership with ICT will help to inspire and motivate teachers in the field of chemical engineering whilst recognising exceptional individuals in this field,” Tata Chemicals’ Managing Director, R Mukundan said.
Tata Chemicals and ICT would collaborate on several new initiatives such as conducting R&D programmes with a focus on sustainability, green chemistry, undertaking projects at ICT based on chemical technology related challenges.
Besides this, the company has also started an annual initiative ‘Best Chemistry Teacher Award’ in the field of chemistry and its allied components.
