Tata Chemicals Managing Director R. Mukundan rang the opening bell on the Bombay Stock Exchange today to mark the platinum jubilee of the company.
Former Managing Directors, Vadgama, Prasad Menon, Homi Khusrokhan, and CFO P.K. Ghose, were present along with Ashish Chauhan, Managing Director of BSE, and a number of senior executives of the company.
All former managing directors shared in brief their memories of running the company that has gone through very difficult times right from its inception 75 years ago. Mithapur, where Tata Chemicals started its plant, gave India its first centre of salt and soda ash production.
Mukundan said that having achieved the leadership position in inorganic chemicals (soda ash), the company will focus on building farm and consumer facing business.
Tata Group Chairman Cyrus Mistry and R. Gopalakrishnan, Vice-Chairman, Tata Chemicals, sent recorded video messages congratulating the company and its employees on the occasion.
