Tata Chemicals Ltd, a part of Tata Group, is reviving its Rs 40-crore investment plan to double the single super phosphate (SSP) production capacity at the Haldia plant.
According to P.K. Ghose, Executive Director and CFO, Tata Chemicals, the company's decision comes after the partial lifting of ban on expansion of existing industries and fresh industrial development at Haldia on grounds of high pollution levels.
“With the partial lifting of ban (on industrial expansion), we are contemplating over further expansion of the SSP unit with an estimated capex of Rs 40 crore,’’Ghose said.
He was talking here on the sidelines of launch of the company’s online water purifier — Tata Swach Silver RO — launch, and the company’s 75 years celebration.
Tata Chemicals had invested nearly Rs 12 crore at the SSP production facility, which currently has a capacity of 2 lakh tonnes a year, at the Haldia plant two years ago.
