Tata Motors has appointed Ranjit Yadav as President of its passenger car business unit. Previously, he was Country Head (India) for the Mobile & IT Businesses of Samsung India Electronics.
Yadav, who had joined Samsung India in 2008, has grown the company’s mobile phone business significantly in four years. From a market share in single digits then, Samsung’s share in the mobile phone space has grown to nearly 30 per cent.
Tata Motors, the country’s largest automobile company with consolidated revenues of Rs 1,65,654 crore (2011-12), has also appointed Neeraj Garg as Vice-President (Commercial) of passenger car business unit.
Garg joins Tata Motors from Volkswagen, where he was the Director-Sales & Marketing (Volkswagen brand). He had earlier worked with Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd and Honda Siel Cars India Ltd.
The company also announced the movement of incumbent Vice-President (Commercial) passenger car business unit R. Ramakrishnan to a corresponding role for its commercial vehicles business unit.
Ramakrishnan has been with Tata Motors since he joined as a graduate engineer trainee in 1985.
