Tata Motors April sales down 34% at 33,892 units

Tata Motors’ total sales (including exports) of commercial and passenger vehicles fell 34 per cent to 33,892 vehicles in April from 51,160 units sold during the same month a year ago.

The company’s domestic sales of commercial and passenger vehicles fell 36 per cent during the month under review to 30,670 units (47,595 vehicles in April last year), the company said in a statement.

The company sold 23,229 units of commercial vehicles in the domestic market, a 36 per cent fall from 36,025 vehicles sold in April last year.  

Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) sales declined 43 per cent to 14,804 units, while medium heavy commercial vehicle sales fell 16 per cent to 8,425 units.

Sales of passenger vehicles for April 2014 were at 7,441 numbers, lower by 36 per cent over the 11,570 vehicles sold in April 2013.

Sales of the Nano, Indica, Indigo range in April 2014 stood at 5,653 units, lower by 37 per cent over the 8,918 vehicles sold in April 2013.

The Sumo, Safari, Aria, Venture range sales were 1,788 units, a 33 per cent decline over 2,652 vehicles sold in April last year.    

The company exported 3,222 units in April 2014, registering a 10 per cent decline compared to 3,565 vehicles in April last year.
