Homegrown auto major Tata Motors has launched a new variant of its mini truck Ace, ACE EX2, in Sri Lanka to strengthen its presence in the island nation.
The company said that it will also introduce other applications on the Ace platform, including tankers, dumper placers, cargo vans, mobile retail vans, high-lift cherry pickers, mobile hoardings, high security cash vans and taxi and school applications, in the Sri Lankan market.
Tata Motors is present in Sri Lanka through its distributor, Diesel and Motor Engineering Plc (DIMO Plc). It is yet to announce the price of the new product.
Commenting on the launch of the new vehicle, DIMO Chairman & Managing Director Ranjith Pandithage, said: “Ever since the introduction of the Tata ACE, commonly called the ‘DIMO Batta’ in 2006, the company has sold over 40,000 vehicles in Sri Lanka.’’
“With the new campaign DIMO Batta ‘Mod Wela’ (has become modern and stylish), we plan to increase our market share and our dominance in the smaller commercial vehicle market and offer even better product to the customer,” he added.
Tata Motors Head-International Business (Commercial Vehicles), RT Wasan, said having sold over one million vehicles on the Tata ACE platform worldwide in seven years since it was first introduced, with the Tata ACE EX2, the company hopes “to further achieve newer feats in the next couple of years’’.
The new Tata ACE EX2 will compliment Tata Motors’ existing range of Tata ACE vehicles in Sri Lanka, the company said, adding that it is offering a warranty of 60,000 km or 24 months on the new vehicle
