Seventeen years since it first introduced the Sumo, Tata Motors has launched Tata Sumo Gold, a new version of the SUV.
The vehicle, fitted with a new CR4 engine, which is also used in its pick-ups and LCVs, has been launched in four variants, each available in two versions — BS III or BS IV complaint. The price ranges between Rs 5.23 lakh and Rs 6.74 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune).
Produced in its Pune factory, the key features of the Tata Sumo Gold BS4 version include a 2956 cc engine delivering an output of 85 Ps and torque of 250 Nm.
Tata Motors at present has a 15 per cent market share in this segment and sold 18,000 SUVs during 2010, Mr R. Ramakrishnan, Vice-President, Commercial, PCBU, Tata Motors, said.
