Tata Motors on Wednesday launched its newest addition to the passenger vehicles family — the Tiago NRG, a rugged version of its best-selling hatchback.

Powered by a 1.2L Revotron petrol engine and 1.05L Revotorq diesel engine, the Tiago NRG is available with 5-speed manual transmission. It comes in three colours — Malabar Silver, Canyon Orange and Fuji White, with dual tone infinity black roof and roof rails. It is available from today, priced at ₹5.49 lakh for the petrol version and ₹6.31 lakh for the diesel version, ex-showroom Delhi.

Tata Motors MD and CEO Guenter Butschek said: “With this launch, we are extending the Tiago brand and increasing our presence by entering newer segments and tapping new sets of buyers. This launch is a step towards our Turnaround 2.0 journey as we continue to focus on ‘winning sustainably’ in the PV business. We are confident that our customers will appreciate the Tiago NRG just like the Tiago hatchback.”

Tata Motors hopes to expand the Tiago volume by targeting people looking for an SUV at a smaller budget through the new launch.

“After we launched the Tiago we listened to our customers who expected a larger infotainment system, a higher seating position and a more rugged car. With Tiago NRG we would be able to target that segment of customers,” Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicle Business at Tata Motors, told BusinessLine .
