Tata Motors makes changes at the top

Close on the heels of Karl Slym joining as its Managing Director, from General Motors, Tata Motors has brought in two other key executives at the top.

It has appointed Ranjit Yadav as President of its passenger car business unit. Yadav, who was Country Head (India) of Mobile and IT Businesses of Samsung India Electronics, is credited with growing the company’s mobile phone business significantly in four the years he was with the company. From a market share in single digit then, Samsung’s share in the mobile phone space has grown to nearly 30 per cent.

Tata Motors, the country’s largest automobile company with consolidated revenues of Rs 1,65,654 crore (FY12), also appointed Neeraj Garg as Vice-President (Commercial) for passenger car business unit (PCBU).

Garg was with Volkswagen as Director, Sales and Marketing (Volkswagen brand). He had earlier worked with Nissan Motor India and Honda Siel Cars India.

Tata Motors moved incumbent Vice-President (Commercial) PCBU R. Ramakrishnan, to a corresponding role in the Commercial Vehicles Business Unit.
