The new hatchback Tata Tiago, which was launched here today, received over one lakh enquiries from across the country.
“The entire hatchback segment is divided into four sub segments — the entry, mid, high and premium. In the high segment we already have the Tata Bolt and in the entry segment we GenX Nano. This car is going to be in between the mid and the high segment,” company’s Regional Manager South-1 (Passenger Vehicle Business Unit) Nakul Gupta said here.
While features made of the high and the premium segments are offered, the pricing was going to be very attractive and it would appeal to people looking at mid segment as well, he said.
Tiago’s petrol version starts from Rs 3.32 lakh, its diesel version starts from Rs 4.08 lakh lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).
The product comes with a fuel efficiency of 23.84 km per litre on Revotron 1.2 litre petrol and 27.28 km per litre on Revotorq 1.05 litre diesel engines as per Automotive Research Association of India certification under test conditions, the company claimed.
Company officials said Tiago is available for sale across the country in over 597 Tata Motors sales outlets. Not wishing to reveal booking figures, Gupta said, “we have got very good response... over one lakh enquires.”
Stating that Tata Motors is committed to launch two products every year, he said “in Auto Expo we had showcased four products. One is this, the other is sedan-KITE 5, Nexon and Hexa, out of these another couple of products will be launched this year.”
