Tata Motors has reported a 7 per cent decline in sales during April 2012 at 60,086 units over the same month last year.
Last month it had registered a 7 per cent decline in passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market to 23,658 units from 25,436 units in April 2011, Tata Motors said in a statement today.
Sales of small car Nano fell 20 per cent to 8,028 units from 10,012 units. The ‘Indica’ range reported sales of 6,913 units (4,250 units), up 63 per cent.
The ‘Indigo’ family with sales of 3,669 units witnessed a dip of 31 per cent. The ‘Sumo’, ‘Safari’ and ‘Aria’ models accounted for sales of 4,048 units, up 5 per cent.
Jaguar Land Rover sales in India continued the upward trend, the statement said without giving details.
Commercial vehicles
In the commercial vehicles segment, Tata Motors recorded a 6 per cent decline in domestic sales in April to 34,647 units compared with 36,738 units in the same month a year-ago.
Light commercial vehicle sales last month stood at 24,818 units, up 9 per cent, while medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales stood at 9,829 units, down 29 per cent.
Total exports in April also declined by 35 per cent to 2,781 vehicles.
