Tata Motors today reported 3.82 per cent decline in its total vehicle sales to 75,773 units in September.
The company had sold 78,783 units in the same month last year, Tata Motors said in a statement.
The total passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 21,652 units in September, down 17.73 per cent from 26,319 units in the same month last year.
Sales of the company’s Nano small car stood at 5,491 units during the month compared to 2,936 units in the year-ago period, translating into an increase of 87.02 per cent.
The ‘Indica’ range reported sales of 7,936 units as against 10,282 units in the year-ago period, down 22.82 per cent, Tata Motors said.
The ‘Indigo’ family recorded sales of 3,706 units, a fall of 52.44 per cent from 7,793 units in the same month last year, it added.
Sales of the ‘Sumo’, ‘Safari’ and ‘Aria’ dipped by 14.86 per cent to 4,519 units compared to 5,308 units in the corresponding period last year.
In the commercial vehicles segment, the company sold 48,680 units in the domestic market during the month under review compared to 46,247 units in the corresponding period last year, an increase of 5.26 per cent.
Light commercial vehicle sales during the month amounted to 33,393 units, a growth of 18.87 per cent over 28,092 units in the same month last year. Medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales stood at 15,287 units, a fall of 15.80 per cent from 18,155 units in September 2011.
The company’s exports had decreased by 12.48 per cent to 5,441 units last month from 6,217 units in the same month last year, it added.
