Tata Motors used the Auto Expo as the platform for unveiling some of its future cars and showcase some funky concepts, too.
The most eye-catching display was the Nexon Design Concept, which could be the base for a future compact sports utility vehicle from the brand.
Bolt and ZEST The other models unveiled were the Bolt hatchback and the ZEST sub-4-metre compact sedan.
These cars will run parallel with the current Indica and Indigo CS range.
The Nexon Concept is said to be based on the same X1 platform that the Bolt and the ZEST have been built on.
The engine is a three-cylinder, 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit with a 5-speed automatic transmission. The concept vehicle is said to be capable of doing a top speed of 180 kmph and can deliver a mileage of 17.6 kmpl.
The ZEST is a next generation compact sedan that forms part of Tata Motors’ Horizonext product strategy.
New engine The car is powered by the new 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine and the 90PS 1.3-litre Quadrajet diesel engine.
The Bolt is the hatch built on the same platform.
The car sports a slightly different look, but has the same two - petrol and diesel engines – in a different state of tune.
Some of the other cars on display at the Expo were the Nano Twist Active, the Nano Twist F-Tronic and the Safari Storme Ladakh.
