As part of its effort to uplift lives of rural artisans, Tata Power has launched ‘SaheliWorld.org’, a dedicated website which offers products made by Special Health Groups (SHGs) and farmers.
The products offered in the platform include women’s apparels from Dhaaga, a social initiative and women SHG based micro-enterprise promoted by Tata Power. Additionally, it also includes handicrafts, home décor items, herbal & organic farm produce, dairy products, patchwork and embroidery from various parts of India along with Covid-19 essential products, Tata Power said.
ShipRocket is the logistic partner of this project and payment service is provided by PAY U.
These product lines include the world-famous embroidery by Tata Power’s Rabari artisans from Mundra, Kutch district (Gujarat) known for its use of delicate stitch, mirror work & bold colourful thread designs. It also includes the traditional hand woven crafts from the artisans of Dhanbad, Maithon made from Tiger grass, a perennial grass native to the Indian subcontinent along with produce from farmers and women SHGs from Maharashtra showcasing day-to-day products like women apparels, household & decorative items, and herbal & organic products to customers.
Customers can search, buy quality products made by these SHGs and also learn more about the artisans through this platform.
At present, Tata Power is engaged with 14,000 women members across 16 states
