Tata Power Solar, a Bangalore-based specialised solar EPC provider, has commissioned the 50 MW solar photovoltaic project for NTPC, as part of its mandate to expand renewable energy portfolio to 1,000 MW by 2017.
The 50MW flagship project in Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh, is the largest Indian solar project to use domestically manufactured solar modules.
Built over 240 acres, the plant is expected to generate 78.66 million units (kWh) of energy per year and will help offset approximately 73,000 tonnes of CO2 in the first year. The power generated will be used to power around 90,000 households in a year.
