Tata Power Zambia project gets CDM nod

Tata Power has announced that its joint venture Itezhi Tezhi Hydro Power Project in Zambia has received Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) approval for generating carbon credits. The 120-MW project is the power producer’s joint venture with Zambian utility ZESCO Ltd, which has been set up to build and operate a hydropower plant in Itezhi Tezhi district, the company said in a statement. The CDM operates under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. The power produced will be connected to Southern African Power Pool grid system.
