Tata Power said the second unit of 800 MW of its 4,000-MW Mundra project has been synchronised.

With this, Tata Power’s total generation stands at 6,099 MW. The company had commissioned the first unit in March this year.

With the synchronisation of Unit II, the company’s thermal power generation capacity totals 5,247 MW. Generation through hydroelectric, wind and solar projects adds up to 852 MW.

Mr Anil Sardana, Managing Director, Tata Power, said: “The synchronisation of Unit II of the Mundra Ultra Mega Power Project is a significant milestone given the power shortage in the country. With this development, Tata Power's gross generation has crossed 6,000 MW, reinforcing its position as the largest integrated power company in India. It is also wished that the company would receive a viable framework in response to its petition to CERC.’’
