Tata Power Company Ltd, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Coastal Gujarat Power Ltd (CGPL), on Monday announced ‘Project Annapurna’ envisaging biogas units to create awareness about clean energy in nearby Kutch villages.
Under the project, six biogas units were installed to provide cooking support to 40 people in association with Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation Ltd (GAIC). For the success of the project, the company also approached Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Society to create awareness about the usage and advantages of biogas, said K.K. Sharma, Chief, Mundra project.
CGPL, which held seminars to impart training to the villagers, also plans to take the project to other villages.
CGPL, a Special Purpose Vehicle formed for setting up and operating the 4,000-MW Mundra UMPP, had signed a power purchase agreement with seven procurers (distribution licensees) from five States such as Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan and Punjab for the sale of contracted capacity.
