Tata Power Ltd (TPL), which is setting up a 4,000 MW ultra mega power plant (UMPP) at Mundra in Kutch district of Gujarat, organised a wellness and healthcare programme for children at Tunda village under its ‘Arogya’ initiative last week.
More than 100 children received free medical aid, Coastal Gujarat Power Ltd (CGPL), a 100 per cent subsidiary of TPL, said in a statement here.
The beneficiaries were treated for various diseases afflicting people in the area, K. K. Sharma, Chief, Mundra Project, said.
CGPL is engaging with the neighbouring communities to address its developmental needs and issues, including education, health, income generation and livelihood, natural resource management, infrastructure and institution-building, he said.
CGPL, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) formed for setting up and operating the 4,000 MW Mundra UMPP, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with seven procurers (distribution licensees) from five States — Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan and Punjab — for the sale of contracted capacity.
The first unit of the Mundra power project, India’s first UMPP based on super-critical technology, is close to commissioning.
