The Tata conglomerate slipped in ranking on India’s most attractive brands index, which was topped by South Korean consumer electronics maker LG.
Tata, which was at number 4 in 2015 and number 5 in 2014, is ranked at number 7 in India’s Most Attractive Brands 2016 study, carried out by Trust Research Advisory (TRA) and based on primary research conducted on close to 3,000 consumers across 16 cities.
However, the ranking was done prior to October 24, when Cyrus Mistry was ousted as the Chairman of Tata group.
This year, top the three places were occupied by LG, followed by Sony and Samsung Mobiles, the study said.
The fourth placewas bagged by Honda while Samsung ranked fifth.
While top five most attractive brands were dominated by foreign firms, homegrown firms Bajaj, Tata and Maruti Suzuki were ranked sixth, seven and eight respectively. Airtel and Nokia took the ninth and tenth spot respectively. In the food and beverage (F&B) category, Amul topped the list out of a total of 156 brands, the report said.
Over all, Amul was the 32nd most attractive brand this year. In the sub-category of FMCG diversified, Patanjali pipped Hindustan Unilever (HUL) to be the most the attractive brand. Top five most attractive brands in this category are Patanjali, HUL, Nirma, Emami and Procter & Gamble (P&G).
This year’s research was conducted among consumer-influencers across 16 cities, and generated nearly 5 million data points and 10,000 brands, making it the most intensive study on brand attractiveness across the globe.
