Almost three years after unveiling the cheapest five-door hatchback in the world – the Nano, Tata Motors has launched a revamped version of the compact car promising an even higher value proposition. Available at the same prices, the refurbished version promises higher fuel efficiency (25.4 kmpl), while power from the 624cc petrol engine has also been increased to 38PS (from 35 PS). The air conditioning has been improved, while there are eight new colours and some changes to the interiors. “The high fuel efficiency, with a low kerb weight of 600 kg, ensures that the Tata Nano at 92.7 gm / km has the lowest CO2 emission among cars in India,” the company said. The suspension system has also been revised with an inclusion of an anti-roll bar. Booster-assisted brakes have been made standard for the Nano, which can reach a top speed of 105 km/ph.
A previously missing feature, a rear-view mirror on the front passenger side has also been added. Mr P.M. Telang, Tata Motors' Managing Director-India Operations, said, “Tata Nano owners have given us valuable insights on what more can be done. We have introduced some of these ideas.” In Delhi, Nano prices are between Rs 1.4 lakh and Rs 1.96 lakh. All the variants come with a warranty of 4 years or 60,000 km, whichever measure is reached earlier.
