FMCG major Colgate-Palmolive India today said work has been temporarily stopped at its toothpaste manufacturing facility in Goa by some workers primarily protesting against suspension of a colleague.
“Some of the workmen at our Goa toothpaste manufacturing factory have resorted to unauthorised temporary stoppage of work, effective January 6, 2013,” Colgate-Palmolive India said in a filing to the BSE.
They are primarily protesting against the suspension of a workman, who was suspended on disciplinary grounds, it added.
“The company is following the due process and expects to resolve the issue shortly,” Colgate-Palmolive India said.
The disruption of work at Goa factory is temporary and will have minimum impact on the company’s business, it added.
Colgate-Palmolive is present in the segments of oral care, personal care, home care and professional oral care.
Shares of Colgate-Palmolive India today closed at Rs 1,537.10 on the BSE, up 0.75 per cent from their previous close.
