Timely execution of projects, implementation of diversification and value addition would help sustain the leadership position of NMDC, Narendra Kothari, Chairman and Managing Director, NMDC Ltd, said.

Highlighting the rich legacy of NMDC and its contribution to the nation over the years, he exhorted employees to take NMDC to greater heights by their dedicated and focused efforts.

Speaking after unfurling the tricolour at the NMDC headquarters here, he referred to the post-liberalisation business scenario that posed several challenges for the domestic steel and iron ore industry, and how NMDC reoriented itself to be successful.

He said NMDC’s ongoing diversification and value addition ventures would be successful and help it to retain its position of leadership. To achieve this, he said it was essential to complete the ongoing projects on time and ensure appropriate positioning and marketing of its products.

The company is diversifying into steel making and has undertaken several capital intensive projects to modernize and increase capacities to retain its domestic leadership and has also forayed overseas ventures successfully.

Established in 1958, the Public Sector Undertaking closed last financial year ended March 31, 2015 with sales turnover of Rs 12,356 crore.
