The board of directors of Tata Coffee Ltd has announced that Sanjiv Sarin will be appointed as ‘CEO designate’ of the company with effect from January 8.
Sarin will assume charge as CEO and MD of Tata Coffee upon the retirement of Hameed Huq, the current CEO and MD, an official statement said. Huq, who will retire on March 31, 2015, after a 15-year stint, has held the position of MD since 2010.
Sarin, a graduate from the Asian Institute of Management, Manila, has been the Regional President-South Asia of Tata Global Beverages (TGB) for the past four years.
During his tenure, he has significantly strengthened TGB’s position in India’s branded tea market.
Prior to this, Sarin was the Executive Director-Business Development at Tata Coffee. He has worked with leading international organisations, including Cadbury Philippines.
Meanwhile, Tata Global announced that Sushant Dash will be taking charge as Regional President – India effective immediately, based out of Bangalore. He takes over from Sarin.
Dash has successfully handled various strategic and operational roles for the organisation over the past 14 years. In his most recent role, he was the Global Brand Director of TGB. He holds a post-graduate degree from MICA (Mudra Institute of Communication, Ahmedabad).
The company also announced that Vikram Grover will be taking charge as Deputy Head of TGB’s water business. Grover will also have the overall responsibility for TGB’s businesses in Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Grover has been TGB’s Marketing Head for South Asia ever since he joined the company in 2010, and has played a key role in achieving several milestones for its Indian branded tea business. He has an MBA in Marketing from the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata.
