Toshiba sets Onam sales target

Toshiba India is targeting to sell 20,000 units of LCD and LED TV sets in the Kerala market during the Onam festival season this year. The company is also eyeing a sales turnover of Rs 25 crore from the State during the season.

Mr Pranabh Mohanty, vice-president, Toshiba India, said that last year the company had sold 12,000 units. Kerala is one of the most promising and fastest growing markets for the company in the LCD and LED category.

The company within a short span of 3 months of its entry in the region in July last year, had created a network of around 10 distributors, along with over 70 direct dealers and around 400 sub dealers, he said.

Strong dealer network and innovative product portfolio enabled Toshiba to garner 22 per cent market share in the state, he said adding that the company is looking at 25 per cent share this year.

The company has recently consolidated its LED TV line-up with the launch of new technologically advanced products. Earlier, this year, it had launched its first 3D Smart TV in India.

Toshiba expecting a year on year growth of 150 per cent during Onam festival and grow the business in Kerala by around 200 per cent this year, he said.

Mr Shinichi Mizuuchi, general manager, said that the company is targeting a market share of 13 per cent in TVs in the national market. The company is planning to sell about one million units this year.
