Trek Bicycle, the US-based brand, is gearing up to replace Quick Releases, a key component, in some models of Trek bicycles it has sold in India.
Following safety concerns, Trek Bicycle Corporation has recalled nearly a million bicycles in the US and Canada to replace the part which attaches the wheel to the frame. The problem arises in models with front disc brakes when the QR is not fitted properly. It snags on the brake assembly resulting in the wheel coming off or jamming, according to the safety recall notice on the company’s website.
When the news broke on the social media over the last two days, Trek buyers in India were a worried lot.
According to a company spokesperson, Firefox Bikes, the distributor of Trek brand of cycles in India, is sending out instruction to its sales network on proper fitting of the part. Trek Bicycle is also sending out the replacement parts to India.
