TÜV Rheinland India would offer testing and certification services for The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) European Union Directive to the manufacturers and distributors of electrical & electronic equipment (EEE) in India.
TUV Rheinland India, headquartered in Bangalore, is a subsidiary of the Germany-based TUV Rheinland Group.
The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive 2002/95/EC is a European Union directive that aims to restrict certain dangerous substances commonly used in EEE. It was adopted in February 2003 by the European Union.
This directive restricts the use of six hazardous materials (lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers) in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment to prevent risks to human health and environment.
“Since the introduction of our RoHS testing capabilities in our state-of-the-art testing lab, we are seeing increased demand from EEE manufacturers and distributors as it gives them a competitive edge in the global market to be RoHS compliant. With India all set to introduce India RoHS here very soon, we expect demand for ourRoHS testing and certification service to further increase,” said Enrico Ruhle, Managing Director, TUV Rheinland India.
