TÜV Rheinland India, a subsidiary of TÜV Rheinland Group, Germany, a leader in testing, training, inspection, consulting & certification, has set up an automotive testing lab at Bengaluru.

The new testing lab, located in Electronic City, will test and evaluate 2/3/4-wheelers along with their electronic sub-assemblies (ESA).

India is an emerging market for manufacturers of automotive vehicles. Many of the giant automotive OEMs have established production plants along with their R&D centres in India.

The new and unique TUV Rheinland automotive testing lab will play a significant role in facilitating vehicle manufacturers and their vendors to test their products in order to continuously improve quality as well as meet local regulations in line with AIS standards.

“The new lab with the latest technology is a unique test set-up. This lab is equipped with the latest technical devices such as the absorber lined shielded enclosure (ALSE) of 10 meter anechoic chamber, automotive transient, along with transient emission stimulators, which can be used to test electronic sub-assemblies as well as battery/ hybrid vehicles,” said Thomas Fuhrmann, CEO and Managing Director, TÜV Rheinland India.

“The lab is indigenously designed, developed, and commissioned under the technical expertise and guidance of an engineering team. The lab operates 24/7 to reduce the turnaround time required for testing which, in turn, speeds up the time to market the newly developed or re-engineered products. This lab facilitates automotive vehicle manufacturers and its sub-system suppliers to make use of it during product developmental phases in order to fix engineering bugs and comply with regulations,” said Kalyan Varma, Vice-President, Products, TÜV Rheinland India.
