Two- and three-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company today reported a 6.17 per cent decline in total sales in May this year at 1,65,151 units.
The city-based company had sold 1,76,012 units during the same month of 2012, TVS Motor said in a statement.
The company registered an 8 per cent dip in the total two-wheeler sales at 1,59,346 units in May 2013 as against 1,73,092 units recorded in the same month of the previous year.
Sales in the domestic market stood at 1,40,046 units in May 2013 as against 1,51,980 units.
However, the company said during May 2013 sales of motorcycles grew by 3.85 per cent to 66,606 units from 64,134 units sold in May 2012, while sales of scooters slipped to 33,747 units from 38,833 units.
In the overseas market, the company registered a 6.9 per cent growth in sales to 24,393 units last month from 22,817 units in the year-ago period.
Exports of two-wheelers declined to 19,290 units from 21,112 units.
The company said sales of its three-wheelers grew by 98.8 per cent to 5,805 units from 2,920 units.
