Two and three-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company witnessed a marginal decline in sales of 8.33 per cent at 1,56,221 units in December 2012.
The Chennai-based company sold 1,70,428 units during the same month in the previous year, a company statement said.
In the two-wheeler segment, the company registered sales of 1,51,735 units against 1,67,905 units. Domestic sales of two-wheelers witnessed a decline at 1,34,566 units (1,46,747 units).
Motorcycle, scooters
In terms of motorcycle sales, the company, amid stiff competition from Japanese motorcycle makers Yamaha and Honda, registered a 6 per cent increase at 60,210 units in December 2012 against 56,662 units in December 2011.
Sales of scooters dipped to 30,398 units from 44,804 units.
Overseas sales slipped to 20,251 units in December 2012 from 22,481 units in December 2011. Two-wheeler exports slumped to 17,169 units from 21,158 units.
Sales of three-wheelers grew 77.8 per cent to 4,486 units from 2,523 units.
