Two and three-wheeler maker TVS Motor Company has registered a 16 per cent increase in its total sales at 1,97,409 units in September.
The Chennai-based company, in a statement said, it had sold 1,70,097 units during the same month of the previous year.
Sales of total two-wheelers grew by 15 per cent from 1,65,092 units sold during September 2012 to 1,89,609 units in September 2013.
Sales in the domestic market recorded a 13 per cent growth to 1,68,598 units in September 2013 from 1,49,191 units sold during the same month of the previous year.
Motorcycle sales grew by 30 per cent to 83,043 units in September 2013 from 63,832 units sold during the corresponding period of the previous year.
Sales of scooters grew by eight per cent to 43,201 units in September 2013 from 40,055 units sold during the same month of 2012.
On the export front, the company said it grew by 47 per cent in September 2013 to 27,577 units from 18,818 units shipped during the same month of the previous year.
Sales of two-wheelers in overseas markets rose by 32 per cent to 21,011 units sold during September 2013, from 15,901 units sold in the same month of the previous year.
Sales of the company’s three-wheelers during September 2013 grew by 56 per cent to 7,800 units, from 5,005 units sold during the same month of the previous year, the statement added.
