Udupi Ruchi, the Benguluru-based ready-to-cook products maker, plans to set up a chain of quick service restaurant (QSR) format cafes through a franchise mode with an investment outlay of ₹50 crore.
Having taken this initiative as a part of its diversification from manufacture and marketing of ready-to-cook food items, it has thus, far set up three Ruchi Udupi cafes in Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Coimbatore and has now taken to expansion.
SR Rao Sahib, Managing Director, Sri Family Enterprises, and promoter of Udupi Ruchi cafes, said: “After having set up three cafes and working out on the right format and model, we are now opening it up for setting up of franchise mode cafes. These will be in three formats of 10 ft by 10 ft, a 50-seater model and large format store on highways.”

The company is also engaged in supplies through its business to business model with Club Mahindra, Oberoi, Lavaza, Spar Supermarket, among others.
By making products with a dry blended technology the company ensures shelf life between nine and 24 months. Without any preservatives, they conform to the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India norms, he explained.
Promoted by Lalitha Rao Sahib, it now has a manufacturing base in Bengaluru and has recently begun supplies to some select markets abroad.
The company is looking to set up about 50 cafes in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh of the proposed 300 cafes over the next three years, Rao Sahib said.
