Liquor major United Spirits has shut down its manufacturing unit at Hooghly, West Bengal citing space constraints and other operational issues.
The manufacturing activities at the company’s unit have been discontinued with effect from February 28, 2015, United Spirits Ltd (USL) said in a filing to the BSE.
“The company does not expect the discontinuation of manufacturing activities at the aforesaid unit to have any material impact on the operations of the company,” it added.
All the issues pertaining to workmen/employees have been amicably settled through a settlement in accordance with law, the company said.
Bengaluru—based USL, which is now controlled by world’s largest spirits maker Diageo Plc, sells various liquor brands including Signature, Bagpiper, Antiquity, Royal Challenge in the country.
