Online furniture store Urban Ladder is on expansion mode. It will take its presence past six cities now to over 12 by September.
The company, which has thus far has had two rounds of funding, including $1 million from Kalaari Capital and $5 million from SAIF Partners, the latter last year, expects to cover 25 cities across the country by next year.
The website provides shoppers with a wide range of contemporary designs, handcrafted furniture that blends beauty with functionality. After the purchase, it is delivered and installed by the Urban Ladder’s Logistics team.
Addressing a press conference here, Ashish Goel, CEO and Co-Founder of Urban Ladder, said, “The number of people purchasing furniture from an online store may be small when compared to the large furniture market. It is growing at a rapid pace. We handle anywhere between 100 to 200 transactions per day with the average cost of purchase at about Rs 20,000. Soon we plan to offer Italian furniture.”
Kaustabh Chakraborty, Vice President, Operations, Urban Ladder, said, “There has been a big shift in the way people are shopping online. They are willing to go beyond apparel and gadgets and explore furniture. To familiarise such shoppers, we have introduced Trial Room in Hyderabad.”
