V Udaya Bhaskar has been appointed the new Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Dynamics Ltd. He was earlier Director (Production) of the Hyderabad- headquartered company.
The public sector undertaking is a miniratna under the Union Ministry of Defence.
An M Tech in Polymer Science and Technology from IIT, Delhi, Udaya Bhaskar has vast experience in various areas of missile production, spanning 25 years. He also worked in the private sector for about six years.
BDL is the main production unit for the country's missiles, which include the Agni, Prithvi, Nag, and Akash.
The company is in expansion mode with two units planned in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh respectively. It has a huge order for manufacture of Akash missiles from the Defence Ministry.
