VA Tech Wabag Ltd has bagged a Rs 80 crore contract from the Surat Municipal Corporation to upgrade a sewage treatment plant.
Wabag, a Chennai-based multinational in water treatment and recycling, will upgrade the existing 120 million litres a day sewage treatment plant to handle over 162 million litres.
As part of the contract, the company will set up a new 42 million litre a day treatment plant and integrate it with the existing facility. The work includes a Rs 65 crore EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) component, and an operation and maintenance portion of about Rs 15 crore over five years.
This is the first sewage treatment plant contract in the municipality segment in Gujarat for the company and will include a power-from-sewage facility, said a press release from the company.
During the second quarter of the current year the company has received Rs 6.6 crore operation and maintenance contracts from industrial and public sector clients.
