Videocon Telecom on Tuesday announced its entry into the security and surveillance segment with the launch of an analogue and internet-based closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera, WallCam, from which it expects to generate a revenue of ₹1,115 crore by 2021.
Through diversification into new business verticals, such as security and surveillance and mobile value-added services, the company said it was targeting a top-line revenue of ₹300 crore during 2017-18.
“We have a licence for pan-India internet service. Now, we are building solutions for broadband services; and security and surveillance is one of the areas where we see a huge potential. We are expecting ₹175 crore revenue from this segment in the current fiscal and ₹1,115 crore by 2021 from sales in the retail network,” Arvind Bali, Chief Executive Officer, Videocon Telecom, told reporters here.
“The Cloud will protect video recorded by these cameras; the recording will remain unharmed in case there is any local damage. Consumers will get access the recordings on their mobile. There are only a few established players in this segment. Our telecom technologies will give us edge over others.”
The company will make the CCTV cameras in India and export the same to Europe, he added.
Videocon will initially focus on 11 States in India, including Delhi-NCR, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Haryana.
“We will provide after-sales service from about 1,000 centres across the country,” Bali said, adding that the company will also offer theCCTV solution bundled with its broadband services in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir.
The company said it was also looking at a total consolidated revenue of ₹1,658 crore in the current financial year, which includes ₹1,358 crore from other segments, such as broadband, smartphones and Internet of Things solutions.
