The hiring rate of women talent by Vodafone India has risen to almost 40 per cent of all hires in March 2014 against 11.5 per cent in March ’13.
The telecom services provider says it has undertaken multiple initiatives to strengthen diversity and inclusion within its workplace as women comprise 32 per cent of its current customer base.
Women currently head 17 of the company’s 95 zones, while the women employee base is approximately 20 per cent of its total workforce in India. It has a target that at least 25 zones be headed by women.
Ashok Ramchandran, Director, Human Resources, said, “In our efforts to create a more balanced work environment while scouting for talent and expanding our talent search pool, we are giving first preference to women talent to build a more diverse workplace.”
In its flagship campus programme ‘Discover’, the number of women trainees this year is more than 51 per cent as compared to 39.5 per cent last fiscal.
