Voltas Ltd has forayed into the air cooler segment by launching ‘Fresh- Air Coolers’. The company has also launched all-weather smart air-conditioners with an array of new features.
In a release filed with the stock exchanges today, Pradeep Bakshi, President & COO, Unitary Products Business Group & Mining & Construction Equipment Division, Voltas Ltd, said leveraging its cooling expertise, the company was keen to launch its next growth phase. The company intended to bridge the gap between fans and ACs with the launch of the `Voltas Fresh-Air Coolers’ and would strive to emerge as one of the top three brands in the segment within the next three years.
The `all-weather smart’ ACs boasted of `smart inverter technology’ that the company said saved up to 63 per cent of power, a smart Android-based mobile application which offered direct AC control with a handset and smart sense technology, which, by sensing the ambient temperature, could `recommend the best AC settings’.
With the launch of the new AC range, Voltas, which claimed to have a 20.8 per cent share in the room AC market in 2014-15, hopes to sustain its growth momentum and market leadership.
Bakshi said Voltas recorded robust demand for its air conditioners with its focus on consumers and a strong presence in tier-II and III markets.
The company offers 78 variants of split ACs, including inverters, and has more than 10,000 retail outlets across the country.
Shares of Voltas (face value ₹1) are trading at ₹288.85, up by ₹4.25, on the NSE.
