Volvo Buses, which has an about 70 per cent share of the inter-state luxury bus segment, has appointed Mr Manish Sahi as the head its operations in India and the South Asian region.
Mr Sahi’s appointment as the Managing Director follows the elevation of Mr Akash Passey as Senior Vice-President, Volvo Bus Corporation, this January. Mr Passey is responsible for the international business and is also the Chairman of the board of Volvo Buses in India.
In his new role, Mr Sahi’s mandate is to help Volvo become a $1 billion company with sales of 5,000 buses per annum. A large part of these sales is expected from India and China.
With over 18 years of experience across the commercial vehicle & financing industry, Mr Sahi had also been the National Sales Head at Volvo Buses between 2003 and 2006. He had the worked outside the group, before re-joining the company in 2010.
